Noter:
Niels Jakobsen Hak (Galen) held title to Ellinge and Sibberup,
married to Ingeborg Jensdatter (Galen). He might be the same Niels
Jakobsen mentioned in 1308 in the "Norske Klager" (Norwegian
Complaints) and therefore have been bailiff (foged) of Hunehals. In
1314 his seal, with the Galen coat-of-arms (våben), can be found on
an endowment document (forleningsbrev) in which a Count Gert in
Nyborg is provided an endowment in Sønderjylland. Also that same year
he can be found witnessing an entailment document (lensbrev) to a
Ludvig Albertsen, in this document he is stated to be a knight
(ridder). In 1330 he donated land to Esrom Monastery for the
salvation of his and his brother Jens' souls; this document
was sealed by Peder, Truid, and Jep Jensen (Galen). In 1333 he is
stated to have been living at Ellinge; also in 1336, at which time he
acted as a witness at a probate hearing regarding an Ingeborg of
Eljarød. He is known to have been dead by 1350, and Ingeborg is known
to have been living in 1351. (Source: Dansk Adelsårbog, 1893, pages
