History of ISSAC BENSON son of Jense Peter Benson and Kersten
Ericksen

Issac Benson (son of Jense Peter, son of Yeppa, son of Bendt Jensen,
and Kersten Ericksen) was born 6 May 1872 at Clarkston, Cache County,


Utah. His parents were converted to the church in Denmark and came
to Utah with the pioneers. Kersten's sister, Mette, came earlier and


was Peter Benson's second wife. They were living the law of polygamy


and Kersten became his third wife.
Issac's brothers and sisters are: Alma Peter, Christina Martena,
Marcus Joseph, Samuel, Alice Marie, Rastus, and Jocob. He also had
many half brothers
and sisters from the other mariages of his father. His parents
lived in Lehi, Utah for a while and then moved to Clarkston, Utah.
In the spring of 1869, Issac's father was one of a group of men who
decided to make a new settlement south and east of Clarkston. They
called it Newton. He built a log house and shed for cattle and sheep


and planted some grain and made irrigation ditches. In 1876, his
father's wife, Mette, died at the brith of her tenth child. Issac's
mother, Kersten, rasied Mette's children along with her own.
Issac married Lucy Amanda Atkinson, daughter of Alfred Henry Atkinson


and Johanna Mathilda Peterson, 21 December 1898. They lived in the
rock family home with Issac's mother Kersten, after his father died.


They had the following children: Lucy Devine, Clara Christine, Darcy


Issac, Alfred Lynn and Ivan Jesse.
Issac was a farmer in Newton. They were good, God fearing people and


lived the gospel. He became ill and died on his 39th birthday, 6 May


1911, at Newton, Utah of Stomach Cancer.
